Cleanup Crew & Environmental Clean Lakes Boat Stickers

When SFLECC was founded in 1994, our mission was to improve the lakes by removing silt and monitoring shorefront construction to protect the rights of our licensed homeowners. Eventually, the Cleanup Crew was formed to help remove debris and floating logs in heavily trafficked recreational areas for the safety of lake goers during the busy lake season. The Cleanup Crew season starts around the middle of May and ends near Labor Day.

This Cleanup Crew consists of 2 people who work off of a pontoon boat with a small crane, which limits the size of logs they are able to remove. If larger trees or logs are stuck to the bottom and the crew cannot pull them loose, they will not be removed and may require hiring an outside contractor. Also, we are unable to remove any downed trees that are still attached to the shorefront, as they are considered “Fish Habitat” by the Department of Natural Resources.

Each of us has a responsibility to help keep the lakes clean and free of debris. We all must work together to preserve and protect the lakes for the beauty and enjoyment they provide. You may ask, “What can I do to help with the cleanup of our Lakes?”
