DREDGE LOCATIONS
LAKE FREEMAN
![]() |
The dredge being used on Lake Freeman is a 10-inch dredge, which means that it has a pump with a 10-inch discharge port. In the Spring of 2010, this dredge will be located around the mouth of Lane Ditch, behind Ski Island. It will be removing sediments collected from the 2008 Winter flooding. The pipeline used to transport sediments to the disposal site on the south end of the White County Airport property will be mostly up Lane Ditch. However, some of the pipeline will be looped into the lake. So watch for the pipeline and the bouys attached to it in this idle zone. |
LAKE SHAFER
| The dredge being used on Lake Shafer is a 12-inch dredge, which means that it has a pump with a 12-inch discharge port. In Fall 2010 and Spring 2011, this dredge will be located in the upper reaches of the Big Monon Bay, first in North Bedford Bay and then in McKillips Bay. It will be removing sediments accumulated by the sediment traps in these two bays. Watch for the pipeline and the bouys marking it. The pipeline is transporting the sediments to a disposal site. This project is occuring within an Idle Zone established and enforced by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Please, respect the Idle Zone. | ![]() |
